A Loom alternative

Record it, fix it, then send the link.

Cropped records your screen, cuts the pauses and ums, adds captions and sends a link people can comment on. It does what Loom does for one person, plus a real editor, for less than two months of Loom Business.

No length limit on recordings

The short answer

Is Cropped a good Loom alternative?

Yes, if you record screen videos yourself and want to edit them before you send them. Cropped records with no length limit, cuts filler words and pauses, makes captions on your computer and shares links people comment on without an account. Loom is still better for teams that live in Jira and Confluence.

Record

Record

Record as long as you need.

Pick an area or a window and record at 30 or 60 fps, or 120 on a 120 Hz screen, with computer sound, your microphone or both. Pause, restart or discard without starting over, and nothing is uploaded until you choose to share.

Zoom on clicks, made while you record

No 5-minute cap

Cropped doesn’t limit how long a recording can be, on any plan.

Zoom on clicks

Each click zooms in smoothly, and you can move, change or turn off every zoom afterward.

Your camera too

Add a camera bubble to the recording, on Mac for now.

Cut the ums before anyone hears them.

Jump Cuts finds pauses, restarted takes, filler words and distorted sound in a talking video, and you check every cut before it’s applied. Captions are made on your computer from what you said, and cutting a caption cuts that part of the video.

Jump Cuts, in Pro

Loom keeps filler-word and silence removal on Business + AI. In Cropped it’s part of Pro, at $24.99 a year.

Send a link people can comment on.

No viewer accounts

Anyone with the link can watch and comment.

Links that expire

Links last 30 days, or as long as you choose, so old videos don’t pile up.

20 GB included

Cropped storage comes with Pro, so there’s nothing to set up.

Questions, answered.

Is there a time limit on Cropped recordings?

No. Cropped doesn’t limit how long a recording can be, on any plan. Loom’s free Starter plan stops at 5 minutes and 25 videos per person.

Do viewers need an account to watch or comment?

No. Anyone can open a Cropped share link in a browser and leave a comment, a to-do or a question pinned to a moment in the video. Share links are part of Pro.

Can I keep my Loom videos?

Yes. Download them from Loom with its Download button and they’re ordinary MP4 files you can trim, caption and share again from Cropped.

Does Cropped work on Windows and Linux?

Cropped runs on Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 14 or later), 64-bit Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.04 or later with GNOME (Linux is in Beta). One license covers all three. A few things are Mac only for now, like the camera bubble, Webpage only and Smooth Scroll. See every difference.
