Free image cropper

Crop to any ratio, an exact size or a social media size, right here in your browser. Your picture never leaves this device. No account, no watermark.

How to crop an image

  1. Add your picture. Drop it on the cropper, paste it, or choose a file. JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF all work.
  2. Pick a shape. Choose 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16, type an exact size such as 1200 × 630, or pick a social size like Instagram portrait, then drag the box over the part you want to keep.
  3. Download. Save as JPEG, PNG or WebP. The file is named with its size, such as photo-1080x1350.jpg.

Every network's size is listed on Social media image sizes.

Need more than one picture?

The Cropped app for Mac, Windows and Linux (Beta) crops whole folders, every social size at once and videos, on your computer. Try it free for 14 days.

Questions

Is this image cropper free?

Yes. Crop as many pictures as you like, one at a time, with no account, no watermark and no limit. The Cropped desktop app, which also crops whole folders and videos, is free for 14 days and then a one-time purchase.

Are my pictures uploaded?

No. The picture is cropped by your browser on your own device and never sent to a server. You can turn off your internet connection after the page loads and it still works.

How do I crop an image to an exact size?

Type the width and height in pixels under Exact size, for example 1200 × 630. The crop box locks to that shape; drag it over the part you want to keep, and the download comes out at exactly that size.

How do I crop a picture for Instagram, X, LinkedIn or YouTube?

Open Social size and pick the network and spot, such as Instagram Post, portrait (1080 × 1350) or YouTube Thumbnail (1280 × 720). The crop box takes that shape and the download is sized for it. The same 51 sizes are listed on the social media image sizes page.

Which file types can I crop and save?

Any picture your browser can open: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), AVIF and, in Safari, HEIC. You can save the result as JPEG, PNG or WebP.

Does cropping lower the quality?

Cropping keeps the original pixels. Saving as PNG keeps every pixel exactly; JPEG and WebP use the quality you set, and 90 is hard to tell from the original. If you pick a social size larger than your crop, the picture is scaled up, which can soften it.

Can I crop many images at once?

Not on this page. The Cropped app for Mac, Windows and Linux (Beta) crops and resizes a whole folder at once: drop it on the Drop Zone and every picture gets the same size and format.

Can I crop a video here?

No, this page crops pictures. The Cropped app trims videos, crops them to 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9, and saves MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM or GIF.
