Recipe library for Cropped's AI tools
A recipe is a saved edit with a name: the steps, the sizes to make, and the format or preset. Save one once, and any AI app connected to Cropped can run it on any capture or file, like “Run Blog hero on my last screenshot.” Recipes also appear in your AI app's prompt menu as Recipe: its name.
To add a recipe below, paste its Save it line into Claude, Cursor or Codex. Your AI checks it on a picture first, then saves it. Change any number, size or color to suit you. For how recipes work, see Recipes. For the sizes they use, see Social media sizes.
How recipes work
- Steps run in order: crop, resize, fit, rotate, flip, pad, frame and annotate, in the order the recipe lists them.
- Sizes make one file each: a recipe can list several sizes, like an X post and a LinkedIn post, and makes a file for each.
- The recipe runs first: when you add more steps while running it, they come after the recipe's steps.
- Same name replaces: saving a recipe with a name that's already used replaces it.
- Images only: recipes work with Edit an image and Generate an image, not with videos.
- Shared by every AI app: a recipe saved from Claude Code also works in Claude Desktop, Cursor and Codex.
You can see your recipes, and delete them, under Recipes in Preferences › App › AI tools.
Websites and docs
Blog hero
For the wide image at the top of a blog post or article.
Docs frame
Gives every screenshot in your docs the same look: padding, rounded corners and a soft shadow on a neutral background.
Mark a screenshot before you frame it, so the marks sit on the screenshot and not on the frame.
README image
A sharp PNG that reads well on GitHub and in code docs.
Retina to 1x
Halves a Retina screenshot so it shows at its real size on websites and in slides.
Clear background frame
A framed screenshot with a transparent background, to drop onto any slide or design.
Social media
Launch set
One image for each of the main networks, cropped around the main subject.
Link preview set
The image sites show when someone shares your link, padded so nothing is cut off.
Banner set
Wide header images for your profiles.
Banners are very wide, so start from a wide picture. Many networks cover part of the banner with your profile photo or crop it on phones, so keep the subject near the middle.
Profile photo set
A square photo for each profile, cropped around your face.
Story set
Tall 9:16 images for stories and shorts.
Padding keeps a whole screenshot in view. For photos, ask for “cropped around the main subject” instead.
Square post with a border
A screenshot or photo on a square with breathing room around it.
YouTube thumbnail
Add a title as text afterwards: “Run YouTube thumbnail on frame.png and add the label ‘3 tips’ at the top left in large yellow.”
Pinterest pin
Extending works best when the gap is small. For a wide picture, ask for “cropped around the main subject” instead.
Sharing and chat
Chat-ready
Small enough to paste into an AI chat or an issue, with text still readable.
Email-friendly
Opens quickly in any email app.
Products and photos
Etsy listing
Product on white
A product photo centered on a white square with room around it.
Presentations
Slide image
A framed screenshot that fills a 16:9 slide.
Write your own recipes
The best recipes come from edits you've already made. When an edit comes out right, say “save that as a recipe called …”, and your AI saves exactly what it just did.
- Name it for the job: “Docs frame” and “Launch set” are easy to ask for later.
- Say when to use it: your AI can save a sentence about when the recipe fits, which helps it pick the right one.
- Preview first: ask your AI to show you a recipe's result on a picture before saving it.
- Keep marks out of frames: a recipe that frames, pads or resizes should run after the marks are added.
- Start from a picture that's big enough: Cropped never enlarges a picture unless you ask, so a small picture makes a smaller file at the right shape.
- Use your own sizes: sizes in your own collections work in recipes too. See Your own collections.
- Generate and finish in one go: recipes work with new images too: “Make a 16:9 image of a sunrise over a city and run Launch set on it.” This uses your own image key.
To change a recipe, save it again with the same name. To remove one, ask “delete the recipe called Pin”, or delete it under Recipes in Preferences › App › AI tools.
